Training

THESE ARE THE POOL TIMES AND AIMS FOR ALL THE SWIMMING GROUPS

Teaching Groups 1 and 2 for swimmers with Stage 5 or equivalent

You can swim 3 sessions a week:

Wednesday 6.00 – 6.45pm

Friday 5.45 – 6.25pm

Sunday 10.00 – 10.45am

The main aims in this group are:

NPTS Stages 6 and 7

The development of more efficient swimming for the four main strokes over 25m.

100m swim using a minimum of three different strokes showing efficient technique.

Sitting dives.

NPTS Stages 8 and 9

Further development of the main swimming strokes.

800m continuous efficient swim.

100m efficient Individual Medley.

Correct racing starts and turns on all four main strokes.

The development of both basic aerobic swimming endurance and of

Swimming speed

Criteria for Progression

Once the swimmers has achieved Stage 9 and the Competitive Start Award they are ready move up to next group at the discretion of the Coach when space is available.

Development Squad

You can swim 4 sessions a week:

Monday 6.00 – 7.00pm

Wednesday 6.45 – 7.45pm

Friday 6.25 – 7.15pm

Sunday 9.00 – 10.00am

The main aims in this squad are:

Further development and refinement of effective technique, the racing skills associated with them and a suitable range of drills and practices of the four main strokes.

Introduce coaching regime including basic endurance. The consolidation of effective technique, competitive racing starts, turns and relay take-overs of the four main strokes.

Swimmers take part in club championships and selected galas and have the opportunity to enter open meets and county competitions when criteria is met

Criteria for Progression

3 County QT at aged 11 or above in more than 1 stroke (plus at discretion of Coach)

County/District Squad

You can swim 4 sessions a week:

Monday 7.00 – 8.30pm

Wednesday 7.45 – 9.00pm

Friday 7.15 – 8.30pm

Sunday 9.00 – 10.00am

The main aims in this squad are:

Coaching regimes and intensities to suit the competitive swimming calendar. Develop sufficient speed and endurance to undertake moderate to heavy training sessions.

Swimmers take part in club championships, selected galas and have the opportunity to enter open meets, counties, south west regional‘s and nationals when criteria is met.
